“Are you sure, sweetheart, that you want to be well?… Just so’s you’re sure, sweetheart, and ready to be healed, cause wholeness is no trifling matter. A lot of weight when you’re well.” —Toni Cade Bambara
My journey towards wholeness and non-harming has kept me on the mindfulness meditation path as a student and teacher for more than 35 years. I completed the Community Dharma Leaders Program at Spirit Rock and have taught meditation classes in Washington, Oregon, and California to BIPOC and mixed-racial groups. I presently lead a diverse Sangha with a majority BIPOC membership, practicing vulnerability and courage, compassion, and healing. My work with Parker Palmer at the Center for Courage & Renewal has enriched my approach to teaching meditation. An African American mother, grandmother, and “other mother” living with my husband in Oregon, I enjoy walking the beach, gardening, reading, poetry, and sunsets.
