Kate Johnson lives and works at the intersection of spirituality, social justice, and creativity. For seven years she was faculty at the Presencing Institute, where she trained hundreds of leaders to use embodied mindfulness practices for personal sustainability, systemic transformation, and the cultivation of wise relationships. Now, she designs and facilitates workshops and retreats for organizations supporting public health, education, and the arts, and teaches meditation at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, New York Insight, the Rubin Museum of Art in New York City, and the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia. Kate holds a bachelor’s in dance from the Alvin Ailey School/Fordham University, and master’s in performance studies from NYU. She has completed over 10 years of formal teacher training and is a recent graduate of Spirit Rock’s four-year retreat teacher training. Kate is a “bonus mom” to a spirited 11-year-old and is looking forward to welcoming a new baby to the family in January 2021.
