Susan Carol Stone, PhD, (she/her), was a mentor in MMTCP I and II. She is a teacher at the Insight Meditation Community of Charlottesville (imeditation.org), taught Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) at the University of Virginia for over 15 years, and has led retreats across a multi-state area. She has lived in Zen and Theravada monasteries and is a Zen lay priest. In addition to articles on mindfulness, Susan is author of At the Eleventh Hour: Caring for My Dying Mother, a memoir of mindfulness and caregiving and, more recently, The Sati Trilogy, historical fiction situated in the Buddha’s time. The novels in The Sati Trilogy are available on Amazon. She is a graduate of the Community Dharma Leaders Program at Spirit Rock, has taught mindfulness in middle schools and at men’s and women’s prisons, and is a Reiki master who has worked with AIDS patients.
