JD Doyle is the guiding teacher at Insight Santa Cruz and for five years was a core teacher at the East Bay Meditation Center (EBMC) in Oakland, California, where they cofounded the weekly LGBTQIA2+ group (known as the Alphabet Sangha). They have completed eight years of training, including Spirit Rock Meditation Center’s teacher training, Community Dharma Leader training, and Dedicated Practitioner Program. JD has practiced Buddhism since 1995 in the US, Thailand, and Burma. For over twenty years, they worked as a public school teacher in elementary and middle schools. JD holds a bachelor’s in environmental studies from Cornell University and a master’s in language and literacy and sociocultural studies from the University of New Mexico. JD identifies as genderqueer. They are committed to creating radically inclusive, antiracist communities, dismantling white supremacy, expanding concepts of gender, and honoring the sacredness of the Earth.
