Kate founded and leads the Whidbey Island Insight Meditation Group in Washington State. She is a graduate of the first cohort of the MMTCP and subsequently worked as a consultant to the program. She is a mentor for the Power of Awareness and teaches mindfulness meditation to veterans and faith-based groups, at universities and colleges, at government agencies, and in community settings. Kate participated in the Spirit Rock Meditation Center’s Community Dharma Leader 6 program and will graduate from the Sati Center’s Buddhist Chaplaincy Training Program in 2021. She has had a regular mindfulness meditation practice for 20 years, has studied in the TIbetan and Insight traditions, and has sat more than 100 nights of residential retreats. Kate is Professor Emerita at Antioch University, Senior Fellow at the Whidbey Institute, and the author of two award-winning books.
