Rae Houseman has practiced extensively in both the Insight meditation tradition and the Vajrayana tradition, and has found these two styles of practice to be complementary in the development of a deeply intuitive and embodied practice. Rae is a graduate of the Spirit Rock Community Dharma Leaders program and Anam Thubten Rinpoche’s Dharma Leadership program. Rae holds a master’s degree in somatic psychology and is a certified Somatic Experiencing practitioner. Rae is the head of coaching for the Ten Percent Happier app, and absolutely loves discussing the practice and sharing practice space with others. Rae created an introductory racial awareness course for white people, integrating learnings and explorations in racial identity awareness and mindful embodiment practices, and ran this course twice for two six-week periods at the Vermont Insight Meditation Center. Rae and a group of people that participated in these two white racial awareness courses meet monthly, rotating leadership, to continue learning, in community, about white racial conditioning.
